NDA 2 2024 Notification and Application Form have been issued by the UPSC on its official website on May 15, 2024. Candidates can submit their applications online for NDA 2 from May 15 to June 4, 2024, and the NDA 2 exam is scheduled for September 1, 2024. UPSC has announced a total of 404 vacancies across the Army, Navy and Air Force.

The UPSC NDA 2 2024 Exam is a national-level competitive examination for those aspiring to join the Indian Army, Indian Navy, or Indian Air Force. The Candidates who will clear the UPSC NDA 2 2024 examination will be undergoing training at the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Naval Academy of India.

NDA 2 2024 Notification

UPSC released the NDA 2 2024 on 15th May 2024. The online application link for UPSC NDA 2 2024 became active on 15th May 2024, and will remain open until 4th June 2024. UPSC has released the UPSC NDA 2 2024 Application Form on its official website (www.upsc.gov.in) The online application link for NDA 2 2024 became active on 15th May 2024, and will remain open until 4th June 2024. Candidates must first register for the OTR before they can proceed to complete the NDA application form.

The UPSC will enable the correction window link for the NDA 2 2024 application form on 5th June 2024, at upsc.gov.in. The commission allows applicants to correct any field except the exam centre choice for seven days following the closure of the NDA 2 2024 application form. The Correction window will close on 11th June 2024.

Typically, the NDA 2 2024 application form correction window remains open for seven days from its activation date. Candidates wishing to make changes to their OTR profile during this time should log into the OTR platform.   3. Enter your personal information, educational background, and address in the NDA online form 2024. This includes details such as your name, date of birth, Aadhar number, father’s name, mother’s name, and other relevant information.
  4. Choose your preferred branches, including the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy.
  5. Review the information entered in the UPSC NDA Application Form 2024.
  6. Your registration ID will be displayed on the device’s screen.

Steps to Fill NDA 2 2024 Application Form Part 2:

  1. Log in at upsconline.nic.in using your Email ID, Mobile Number, or OTR ID along with your password.
  2. Pay the application fee of Rs 200 using Cash, Visa, MasterCard, RuPay Credit/Debit Card, UPI Payment, or Internet banking. SC/ST candidates, female candidates, and Wards of JCOs/NCOs/ORs are exempt from paying the fee.
  3. Select three preferred NDA Exam Centres in the online form.
  4. Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and Photo ID Card. Ensure the signature file is at least 350 pixels.
  5. Agree to the declaration and submit the NDA application form 2024.
  6. Download or print the NDA 2 Application Form 2024 for your records.

NDA 2 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has detailed the eligibility criteria for the NDA 2 2024 exam in its official notification available at upsc.gov.in. 

The NDA 2024 eligibility criteria are divided into 2 main sections: age limit and educational qualifications. 

Age Limit: Only candidates who are unmarried male/female and are born not earlier than 2nd January 2006 and not later than 1st January 2009 are eligible.

Educational Qualification: 

  • For Army Wing of National Defence Academy (NDA): Candidate should be 12th Class pass or have passed an equivalent examination.
  • For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy (NDA) and the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy (INA): Candidates should be 12th Class pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or should have passed an equivalent examination.

NDA 2 2024 Marking Scheme – Written Exam

  • Negative Marking: There will be a penalty for wrong answers. For each incorrect response, one-third (0.83 for Maths and 1.33 for GAT) of the marks assigned to that question are deducted.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: Candidates need to score the minimum qualifying marks separately in each paper as determined by the Commission.

NDA 2 2024 Syllabus

The NDA (National Defence Academy) examination in India consists of two main papers: Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). The table contains the NDA 2 2024 Syllabus for Mathematics and GAT:

  • Binary system of numbers. Conversion of  a  number  in decimal system to binary system and vice-versa. 
  • Arithmetic, Geometric and Harmonic progressions.

  • Derivative of function at a point, geometrical and physical interpretation of a derivative—applications.

6. Integral Calculus And Differential Equations

  • Evaluation of definite integrals—determination of areas of plane regions bounded by curves—applications. 
  • Definition of order and degree of a differential equation, formation of a differential equation by examples. 
  • General and particular solution of a differential equations, solution of first order and first degree differential equations of various types—examples. 
  • Application in problems of growth and decay.
7. Vector Algebra
  • Vectors in two and three dimensions, magnitude and direction of a vector. 
  • Unit and null vectors, addition  of  vectors, scalar multiplication of a vector, scalar product or dot product  of two vectors. 
  • Vector product or cross product of two vectors. 
  • Applications—work done by a force and moment of a force and in geometrical problems
8. Statistics and Probability
  • Statistics : Classification of data, Frequency distribution, cumulative frequency distribution—examples. Graphical representation—Histogram, Pie Chart, frequency polygon— examples. Measures of Central tendency—Mean, median and mode. Variance and standard deviation—determination and comparison. Correlation and regression. 
  • Probability : Random experiment, outcomes and associated sample space, events, mutually exclusive and exhaustive events, impossible and certain events. Union and Intersection of events. Complementary, elementary and composite events. Definition of probability—classical and statistical—examples. Elementary theorems on probability—simple problems. Conditional probability, Bayes’ theorem—simple  problems. Random variable as function on a sample space. Binomial distribution, examples of random experiments giving rise to Binominal distribution.
General Ability Test (GAT)
Part A – English

 

  • The question paper in English will be designed to test the candidate’s understanding of English and workman like use of words. 
  • The syllabus covers various aspects like : Grammar and usage, vocabulary, comprehension and  cohesion  in  extended  text to test the candidate’s proficiency in English
Part B – General Knowledge
  • The question paper on General Knowledge will broadly cover the subjects : Physics, Chemistry, General Science, Social Studies, Geography and Current Events.- 
  • The syllabus given below is designed to indicate the scope of these subjects included in this paper. 
  • The topics mentioned are not to be regarded as exhaustive and questions on topics  of  similar  nature not specifically mentioned in the syllabus may also be asked. 
  • Candidate’s answers are expected to show their knowledge and intelligent understanding of the subject
Section A: Physics
  • Physical Properties and States of Matter, Mass, Weight, Volume, Density and Specific Gravity, Principle of Archimedes, Pressure Barometer. 
  • Motion of objects, Velocity and Acceleration, Newton’s Laws of Motion, Force and Momentum, Parallelogram of Forces, Stability and Equilibrium of bodies, Gravitation, elementary ideas of work, Power and Energy. 
  • Effects of Heat, Measurement of Temperature and Heat, change of State and Latent Heat, Modes of transference of Heat. 
  • Sound waves and their properties, Simple musical instruments. Rectilinear propagation of Light, Reflection and refraction. Spherical mirrors and Lenses, Human Eye. 
  • Natural and Artificial Magnets, Properties of a Magnet, Earth as a Magnet. 
  • Static and Current Electricity, conductors and Non- conductors, Ohm’s Law, Simple Electrical Circuits, Heating, Lighting and Magnetic effects of Current, Measurement of Electrical Power, Primary and Secondary Cells, Use of X-Rays. 
  • General Principles in the working of the following: Simple Pendulum, Simple Pulleys, Siphon, Levers, Balloon, Pumps, Hydrometer, Pressure Cooker, Thermos Flask, Gramophone, Telegraphs, Telephone, Periscope, Telescope, Microscope, Mariner’s Compass; Lightening Conductors, Safety Fuses
Section B: Chemistry
  • Physical and Chemical changes. 
  • Elements, Mixtures and Compounds, Symbols, Formulae and simple Chemical Equations, Law of Chemical Combination (excluding problems). 
  • Properties of Air and Water. Preparation and Properties of Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen and Carbondioxide, Oxidation and Reduction. 
  • Acids, bases and salts. Carbon—different forms. Fertilizers—Natural and Artificial. 
  • Material used in the preparation of substances like Soap, Glass, Ink, Paper, Cement, Paints, Safety Matches and Gun-Powder. 
  • Elementary ideas about the structure of Atom, Atomic Equivalent and Molecular Weights, Valency.
Section C: (General Science)
  • Difference between the living and non-living. Basis of Life—Cells, Protoplasms and Tissues. Growth and Reproduction in Plants and Animals. 
  • Elementary knowledge of Human Body and its important organs. Common Epidemics, their causes and prevention. Food—Source of Energy for man. 
  • Constituents of food,  Balanced Diet. The Solar System—Meteors and Comets, Eclipses. Achievements of Eminent Scientists
Section D: History and Freedom Movement
  • A broad survey of Indian History, with emphasis on Culture and Civilisation. 
  • Freedom Movement in India. Elementary study of Indian Constitution and Administration. 
  • Elementary knowledge of Five Year Plans of India. 
  • Panchayati Raj, Co-operatives and Community Development. Bhoodan, Sarvodaya, National Integration and Welfare State, Basic Teachings of Mahatma Gandhi.

  • Humidity; Condensation and Precipitation; Types of Climate, Major Natural regions of the World. 
  • Regional Geography  of  India—Climate, Natural vegetation. Mineral and Power resources; location and distribution of agricultural and Industrial activities. Important Sea ports and main sea, land and air routes of India. Main items of Imports and Exports of India
Section F: Current Events
  • Knowledge of Important events that have  happened  in India in the recent years. Current important world events.
  • Prominent personalities—both Indian and International including those connected with cultural activities and sports.

Important Note: Out of maximum marks assigned to part ‘B’ of this paper, questions on Sections ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’, ‘E’ and ‘F’ will carry approximately 25%, 15%, 10%, 20%, 20% and 10% weightages respectively.

NDA 2 2024 Selection Process

The NDA (National Defence Academy) 2 2024 selection process involves several stages to identify suitable candidates for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Here’s an overview of the process:

  1. Written Examination:
    1. The written exam comprises two papers: Mathematics and the General Ability Test (GAT).
    2. Mathematics is worth 300 marks and the GAT is worth 600 marks, making a total of 900 marks.
    3. Candidates must score above the cut-off marks in both papers to qualify for the next stage.
    4. There is a negative marking of one-third of the marks for each incorrect answer​.
  2. SSB Interview:
    1. Candidates who pass the written exam are called for the Services Selection Board (SSB) interview.
    2. The SSB interview is a five-day process divided into two stages:
      1. Stage 1: Includes the Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PPDT).
      2. Stage 2: Involves psychological tests, group testing officer tasks, personal interviews, and a final conference​
  3. Medical Examination:
    1. Candidates recommended by the SSB undergo a comprehensive medical examination at designated military hospitals.
    2. The medical tests ensure candidates meet the health standards required for service in the armed forces​.
  4. Final Merit List:
    1. The final selection is based on the combined scores of the written exam and the SSB interview.
    2. Only candidates who are declared medically fit and score sufficiently high on the merit list are selected for training at the NDA.

NDA 2024 SSB Process

The SSB interview consists of two phases. The first phase includes the Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and the Picture Perception and Description Test (PP & DT). The second phase involves Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests, and the Conference. The total number of marks for the NDA SSB interview are 900.
