  • SUMAN (Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan) aims to ensure respectful, free and quality maternal and newborn healthcare services.
  • The SUMAN Roadmap 2030 focuses on reducing maternal mortality, neonatal mortality and stillbirths in line with SDG-3 targets.
  • It emphasises skilled birth attendance, emergency obstetric care, digital monitoring and quality assurance.
  • The initiative supports India’s commitment to universal health coverage and improved reproductive healthcare.
Unified Health Interface (UHI): The Interoperable Network for Digital Health Services

  • The Unified Health Interface (UHI) is an open interoperable digital network developed under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
  • It enables seamless discovery, booking and delivery of digital healthcare services across multiple platforms.
  • UHI functions on open protocols similar to UPI, promoting interoperability, innovation and patient choice. 
  • It supports telemedicine, digital prescriptions and electronic health records while strengthening digital public infrastructure.
Release of SDG Publications (GS-2:Polity and Governance) PIB
  • The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released new Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) publications to monitor India’s progress towards the UN 2030 Agenda. 
  • The publications provide data on SDG India Index indicators, national priorities and State-level performance.
  • They strengthen evidence-based policymaking, cooperative federalism and outcome-based governance.
  • India has aligned several flagship schemes with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals to accelerate inclusive development.
RBI: Rules for Scam Compensation

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has proposed a framework to compensate customers affected by unauthorised digital payment frauds under specified conditions.
  • Banks and regulated entities are required to strengthen fraud reporting, grievance redressal and cybersecurity mechanisms.
  • The framework promotes greater consumer protection and trust in India’s digital payment ecosystem.
  • It complements the Digital Payments Security Controls Directions and RBI’s efforts to strengthen cyber resilience.
Reforms 3.0: Towards the Bharat Rate of Growth (GS-3: Economy) The Hindu
  • Reforms 3.0 refers to the next generation of structural reforms aimed at sustaining high economic growth, improving productivity and enhancing global competitiveness.
  • It emphasises reforms in land, labour, logistics, capital markets, innovation, judicial efficiency and ease of doing business.
  • The approach seeks to leverage India’s demographic dividend, digital public infrastructure and manufacturing ecosystem to achieve developed nation status by 2047.
  • Higher private investment, employment generation and export competitiveness are key objectives of the proposed reform agenda.
India’s ‘Operationally Deployed’ Nuclear Warheads

  • SIPRI estimates indicate that India possesses an increasing number of nuclear warheads, with a portion assessed to be operationally deployed.
  • India follows a policy of Credible Minimum Deterrence and No First Use (NFU) with assured massive retaliation.
  • India’s nuclear triad comprises land-based missiles, aircraft and submarine-launched ballistic missiles.
  • The Strategic Forces Command (SFC) is responsible for operational management of India’s nuclear arsenal.
National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) (GS-3: Economy) The Hindu
  • NIIF is India’s sovereign-backed investment platform established in 2015 to mobilise long-term capital for infrastructure and strategic sectors. 
  • It operates through Master Fund, Fund of Funds and Strategic Opportunities Fund.
  • NIIF attracts domestic and foreign institutional investors to finance infrastructure, clean energy, logistics and digital assets.
  • It supports the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) and PM Gati Shakti initiatives.
DRDO Plan (DFP-2026) (GS-3: Science & Technology) The Hindu
  • DRDO’s Defence Futurisation Plan (DFP-2026) seeks to accelerate indigenous defence technologies and next-generation military capabilities. 
  • The roadmap focuses on artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, hypersonic technologies, directed-energy weapons and advanced materials.
  • It promotes collaboration with industry, start-ups, academia and the private sector under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
  • The plan aims to enhance India’s technological self-reliance and defence preparedness.
Radio-Tagged White-rumped Vulture 

(GS-3: Environment)

The Hindu
  • A captive-bred, radio-tagged White-rumped Vulture was electrocuted near Mudumalai Tiger Reserve during its first experimental reintroduction into the wild.
  • The White-rumped Vulture (Gyps bengalensis) is listed as Critically Endangered by the IUCN and is protected under Schedule I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. 
  • Major threats include diclofenac poisoning, habitat degradation and electrocution from power infrastructure. 
  • The incident highlights the need for safer power lines, bird diverters and improved reintroduction protocols.

  • Jonathan is a Seychelles Giant Tortoise (Aldabrachelys gigantea) recognised as the world’s oldest known living land animal.
  • The species is native to Aldabra Atoll in Seychelles and is classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
  • Giant tortoises are long-lived herbivorous reptiles that play an important ecological role in seed dispersal and vegetation dynamics.
