India Semiconductor Mission 

India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) functions under MeitY and is the strategic driver behind SEMICON India 2025. Launched in 2021, ISM coordinates India’s push in semiconductor manufacturing, R&D, and ecosystem development. Major strides include:

• Approval of ten strategic semiconductor projects. These include fabrication, packaging, compound semiconductors, and OSATs.
• Six semiconductor units are now operational. Four additional facilities have been newly approved.
• Infrastructure development and investment are ongoing. This is supported by a ₹76,000-crore PLI scheme.
• Over 280 academic institutions and startups are being empowered. This includes 23 entities under the Design-Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme.
