UPSC Mains DAF 2023 form is out now! The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) issued the UPSC Mains DAF 2023 form on July 10, 2023. Those who passed the preliminary exam can register for the mains by completing the Detailed Application Form (DAF) available on the official website at upsc.gov.in.

UPSC Mains DAF is a Detailed Application Form, and aspirants who pass the UPSC Prelims must submit the UPSC Mains DAF. The form that is filled out before the UPSC Mains Examination is called UPSC Mains DAF 1, and the form that is filled out before the Personality Test Round is called UPSC DAF 2.

Candidates must fill out a Detailed Application Form called the UPSC Mains DAF with their details, educational background, and other related information. Candidates should provide and fill in in-depth information regarding their educational background, professional background, preferred services and cadre, and other pertinent details. 

UPSC Mains DAF: What Is It?

All candidates who passed the preliminary exam must reapply using the UPSC Mains Detailed Application Form (DAF) for the UPSC Mains Examination as per the rules of the UPSC examination. Following the release of the UPSC Prelims result, this UPSC Mains DAF form will be accessible on the Union Public Service Commission website. 

All candidates must finish the UPSC Mains DAF online and then submit it online to be qualified to take the UPSC Mains Exam. Any delay in submitting DAF-I or supporting documents past the deadline will result in disqualification from the CSE.

UPSC Mains DAF Form Fees: 

The Detailed Application Form (DAF) is equivalent to the UPSC Civil Services Mains exam form. Only individuals who passed the CS preliminary exam are eligible to use the online form. General and OBC candidates must pay a fee of Rs. 200 to fill out the UPSC Mains DAF. Candidates who come under the SC/ST category or female candidates are completely exempt from fees.

As it assists the commission in determining candidates’ suitability for various government administrative positions, the UPSC Mains DAF is an essential part of the UPSC selection process.

UPSC Mains DAF Form Checklist:

Before filling out the online UPSC Mains DAF, the applicant must scan the pertinent original papers at 200 dpi grayscale and convert them into a single PDF file no larger than 3 MB. The below certificates are the checklist for the UPSC Mains DAF form:

  1. A scanned copy of certificate of age (indicating his date of birth).
  2. scanned copies of the qualification letter or certificate of equivalency from AIU or UGC.
  3. A scanned copy of the category proof certificate, if appropriate, OBC candidates may fill up Annexures VI and VII of the UPSC Mains DAF form.
  4. A scanned copy of the certificate proving your age reduction claim (if applicable).
  5. A scanned copy of the certificate attesting to the claim of physical disability (together with the certificate of disability in the dominant/writing extremity).
  6. The scanned copies of the candidate’s certificates attest to their place of origin, either Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, or Nagaland, as appropriate.
  7. A scanned copy of the undertaking form stating that the candidate, who is employed by the government, has informed their concerned department in writing that they will be attending the test.
  8. The scanned copies of supporting documentation for employment, land ownership, income from various sources, and property owned by parents of OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates.

UPSC Mains DAF 2023 Form: Application Process

  • Go to the official website, upsc.gov.in.
  • Select ‘DAF – I: Civil Services (Main) Examination’ from the homepage link.
  • After clicking the “link here” button, a new page (UPSC Mains DAF form) will appear.
  • Fill out the UPSC Mains DAF after registering with the requested information.
  • Submit the necessary paperwork and, if applicable, pay the fees.
  • Preview the UPSC Mains DAF form and click submit.
  • Print this page out for your future use.

  • Father’s and Mother’s Name: Spell correctly as per official documents.
  • Occupation: Mention current or last held occupation.
  • Address: Usually the same as the permanent address, but specify if it is different.

5. Employment Information (if applicable)

  • Current Employer: Provide details about your current job, including designation and responsibilities.
  • Previous Employment: Briefly mention previous jobs, focusing on roles relevant to civil services.

6. Service Preferences

List your preferred services in the order of priority (IAS, IFS, IPS, IRS, etc.). Consider your interests, career goals, and the nature of each service while ranking them.

7. Cadre Preferences

Rank the cadres (state preferences) based on where you would prefer to serve. Think about language, culture, family connections, and career opportunities.

8. Optional Subject

Clearly mention the optional subject you have chosen for the Mains exam. This should align with your strengths and academic background.

9. Details of Competitive Exams

List any other competitive exams you have appeared for, along with results. This section highlights your academic and professional efforts.

UPSC Mains DAF Form – Summary Sheet

Once all the information has been entered, the DAF summary sheet (typically the final two pages) will be produced in the UPSC Mains DAF form.
