The UPSC Prelims 2023 Exam was divided into two parts, lasting two hours each. Paper 1 was worked on in Session 1, while Paper 2 was worked on in Session 2. Paper 1 consists of General Studies topics, and Paper 2 is CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test). The UPSC Prelims Exam 2023 was a pen and paper test. The Prelims Paper 1 exam has 200 points, and each wrong answer results in a deduction of 0.66. The UPSC Prelims GS-2 consists of 80 questions with a total value of 200 marks. However, for each incorrect answer, a deduction of 0.83 marks is made.

It is mandatory to attend both of these papers in order to qualify for the prelims result. CSAT requires a minimum of 33% (66.67 marks) to qualify, while qualification for Paper 1 is based on the cutoff marks (merit list).

The UPSC recommended 1016 individuals for IAS, IFS, IPS, and other Group A and Group B posts as per the UPSC 2023 Result Analysis.
