‘CHARAK’ Scheme

Recently, Under the guidance of the Ministry of Coal, Singrauli based Coal India arm Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has started ‘CHARAK’-  scheme. 

Overview of ‘CHARAK’ Scheme

  • It is an innovative health-centric Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
  • Purpose: To provide free treatment for life-threatening diseases to patients from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in the Singrauli region.

Key Features of the Scheme

  • Free Treatment Facilities:
    • Treatment is provided at NCL’s hospital (NSC) or empanelled specialized hospitals across India.
    • Covers various life-threatening diseases for eligible patients.
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Residents of Singrauli (Madhya Pradesh) and Sonbhadra (Uttar Pradesh) districts.
    • Annual family income must be below ₹8 lakh from all sources.
  • Diseases Covered:
    • Cancer (Malignancy)
    • Tuberculosis (TB) and related complications
    • HIV-related complications
    • Cardiovascular diseases
    • Organ transplants
    • Severe burns causing permanent disability
