Context:

Labour Day, May Day, or Worker’s Day was celebrated on 1 May.

About May Day :

Aim: To educate workers about their rights and the contributions they make.

The theme for Labour Day 2023 is “A safe and healthy working environment as a fundamental principle and right at work.”
In India, people started observing the day on 1 May 1923 after the Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan was initiated and Comrade Singaravelar helmed the celebrations.
