SEBI Grade A Syllabus 2026 outlines a national-level selection process divided into three consecutive stages: Phase I (Screening), Phase II (Online Examination), and Phase III (Interview). Phase I filters candidates through general aptitude and stream-specific multiple-choice papers, whereas Phase II evaluates advanced stream subjects alongside a descriptive English writing test to determine the primary merit list.

Since the SEBI Grade A 2026 notification has not been released yet, the syllabus and exam pattern discussed below are based on the latest SEBI Grade A 2025 official notification. Any changes introduced in the 2026 notification will be updated once officially announced.

SEBI Grade A 2026 is a three-stage exam: Phase I, Phase II, and Interview. The selection process tests candidates on general awareness, stream-specific knowledge, and language skills. Knowing the complete and detailed syllabus is the first step to cracking this exam.

SEBI Grade A 2026 Exam Pattern 

The exam has three phases:

  • Phase I – Online Screening Exam (January 10, 2026)
  • Phase II – Online Exam (February 21, 2026)
  • Phase III – Interview

There is negative marking (1/4th of marks) in both phases. All question papers (except the English test) are set bilingually in Hindi and English.

SEBI Grade A 2026 Phase 1 Exam Pattern

Phase I is an online screening exam with two papers of 100 marks each. Here is the complete Phase 1 syllabus breakdown:

Key Rules for Phase I:

  • Minimum 30% cut-off for Paper 1 (no sectional cut-off)
  • Minimum 40% cut-off for Paper 2
  • Candidates must secure separate cut-offs in each paper and aggregate cut-off of 40%
  • Marks from Phase I are not counted in the final selection

Phase II is a more detailed online exam with two papers. The phase 2 syllabus tests both objective and descriptive skills.

Paper 1 of Phase II (For All Streams) – English Writing Skills: This paper tests writing skills, including expression and understanding of the topic, precise writing, essay writing, and comprehension.

Candidates must secure separate cut-offs in each paper as well as an aggregate cut-off of 50% in Phase II to be shortlisted for Phase III (Interview). Candidates equal to 3 times the vacancies will be shortlisted for an interview based on merit.
