SEBI Grade A Eligibility Criteria 2026 include nationality, age limit, educational qualification, and stream-specific requirements. Candidates must generally be below 30 years of age (subject to the official cut-off date), with category-wise relaxations available. There is no limit on the number of attempts, and eligibility varies across the General, Legal, IT, Research, Engineering, and Official Language streams.

Candidates planning to appear for the SEBI Grade A 2026 Exam must ensure that they satisfy all the eligibility conditions prescribed by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The eligibility criteria primarily include age limit, educational qualification, nationality, category-wise age relaxation, and stream-specific requirements.

As the official SEBI Grade A 2026 Notification has not been released yet, the eligibility details provided below are based on the latest SEBI Grade A 2025 notification and are expected to remain similar unless revised by SEBI.

If you are planning to appear for the SEBI Grade A 2026 exam, the first and most important step is to clearly understand the eligibility criteria. You must meet specific conditions concerning nationality, age, and education to qualify for the SEBI Grade A exam.

SEBI Grade A Nationality Criteria

To apply for the SEBI Grade A 2026 examination, candidates must meet the nationality requirements prescribed by the recruitment rules. A candidate is eligible if they are:

  • An Indian citizen.
  • A citizen of Nepal or Bhutan.
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from countries such as Pakistan, Myanmar (Burma), Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam, with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates belonging to categories other than Indian citizens may be required to produce an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India, wherever applicable.

SEBI Grade A 2026 Age Limit

As per the latest SEBI Grade A notification, a candidate must not have exceeded 30 years of age on the prescribed cut-off date. Here’s the expected age limit for SEBI Grade A 2026:

Based on the 2025 notification, candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1995, to be eligible.

SEBI Grade A Age Relaxation 

SEBI provides upper-age relaxation to candidates belonging to reserved categories.

Important Points Regarding Age Relaxation

  • OBC reservation and age relaxation are available only to candidates belonging to the OBC Non-Creamy Layer (NCL).
  • Candidates from the OBC Creamy Layer must apply under the Unreserved (UR) category.
  • SC, ST, and OBC candidates can claim age relaxation only for vacancies where reservation is applicable.
  • PwBD candidates are eligible for age relaxation as per the prescribed rules, even if the post is not specifically reserved for PwBD candidates.

SEBI Grade A Educational Qualification 2026

The educational qualification requirements differ according to the stream for which a candidate applies.

SEBI Grade A General Stream Eligibility

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in any discipline, or
  • Two-year Post Graduate Diploma in any discipline, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or
  • Chartered Accountant (CA), or
  • Company Secretary (CS), or
  • Cost Accountant/CMA, or
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

SEBI Grade A Legal Stream Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized university.

SEBI Grade A Information Technology (IT) Stream Eligibility

Candidates must possess any one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, or related disciplines, or
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Application (MCA), or
  • Master’s Degree in Information Technology, or
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum two-year postgraduate qualification in Computer Science/Information Technology.

SEBI Grade A Research Stream Eligibility

Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree or a two-year Post Graduate Diploma in:

  • Economics
  • Commerce
  • Statistics
  • Econometrics
  • Business Administration (Finance)

SEBI Grade A Official Language Stream Eligibility

Candidates must have:

  • Master’s Degree in Hindi with English as a subject at the Bachelor’s level, or
  • Master’s Degree in Sanskrit, English, Economics, or Commerce with Hindi as a subject at the Bachelor’s level.

Engineering Streams Eligibility

Electrical Engineering Stream

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from a recognized university.

Civil Engineering Stream

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.

SEBI Grade A – Other Important Eligibility Conditions

Apart from fulfilling the age, educational qualification, and nationality requirements, candidates must also satisfy a few additional eligibility conditions prescribed by SEBI. These include stream-specific requirements related to work experience and the language skills needed to perform the responsibilities of the post effectively.

Work Experience

Work experience is not mandatory for most SEBI Grade A streams. However, candidates applying for streams such as Legal, Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering may receive additional weightage during the interview stage for relevant post-qualification work experience, subject to the recruitment notification.

Language Proficiency

Candidates should have a good command of English, as the examination, official correspondence, and most workplace communication are conducted in English.
