Lok Sabha
The Lok Sabha, also known as the Lower House, is the lower chamber of the Indian Parliament. It can have a maximum strength of 550 members, but currently, it cannot exceed 530 members. Among these, 530 members are elected from single-member constituencies, and an additional 20 members are appointed by the President. The Lok Sabha operates as a temporary body, and its members can face expulsion if necessary.

The Parliament of India consists of a total of 790 members. This includes 543 members in the Lok Sabha (House of the People) and 245 members in the Rajya Sabha (Council of States). The number of members in Parliament can change over time due to factors like delimitation of constituencies and additional seats being added to accommodate population changes or political decisions.

As per the Constitution of India, the maximum membership of the House is set at 552, which was initially 500 when established in 1950. Currently, the Lok Sabha has 543 seats, filled by the election of up to 543 elected members.

As per the Representation of People Act, 1951, the current strength of the Rajya Sabha is 245 members. However, this number can be increased up to 250 by amending the act itself. Among these members, 233 represent the various states and union territories, while the remaining 12 are nominated by the president.

The Vice President of India serves as the ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.

Our nation's Parliament is consists of two Houses: the Rajya Sabha (Council of States) and the Lok Sabha (House of the People). Although the President of India is associated with the Parliament, they are not a member of either House.
