UPPSC Age Limit 2026: Minimum, Maximum Age & Category-Wise Relaxation Explained

UPPSC Age Limit 2026 is one of the most important eligibility criteria for candidates applying for the Uttar Pradesh PCS Exam. Before applying, candidates should carefully check the minimum and maximum age limits, date of birth criteria, and category-wise age relaxation.

As per the official UPPSC notification, the standard age limit is 21 to 40 years as of 1 July 2026, with relaxation available for OBC, SC, ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen, and certain other eligible categories. This guide explains the complete UPPSC age criteria, category-wise limits, and important rules to help you determine your eligibility.

What Is UPPSC Age Limit 2026?

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission has released the official notice for the PCS 2026 exam (Advt. No. A-1/E-1/2026, dated 25/06/2026). As per this notice, the UPPSC minimum age limit 2026 is 21 years, and the UPPSC maximum age limit 2026 is 40 years. The age is calculated as on 1 July 2026.

This means a candidate must be born:

  • Not earlier than 2nd July 1986
  • Not later than 1st July 2005

If your date of birth does not fall in this range, you cannot apply for most posts under this exam.

UPPSC Age Limit 2026 Overview

The UPPSC Age Limit 2026 varies by category and post, with age relaxation provided for reserved categories, PwBD candidates, ex-servicemen, and specific posts as per the official notification.

Category Minimum Age Maximum Age
General / EWS 21 years 40 years
OBC / SC / ST (U.P.) 21 years 45 years
PwBD 21 years 55 years
Ex-Servicemen 21 years 43+ years (plus service years)

UPPSC Age Limit for General Category

For candidates from the General category, no additional age relaxation is available. Under the UPPSC age limit 2026 rules, the UPPSC age limit for the General category stays between 21 and 40 years, the same as the standard rule mentioned above. General category candidates must be born between 2nd July 1986 and 1st July 2005.

UPPSC Age Limit for OBC, SC, ST Candidates

Candidates belonging to the OBC, SC, and ST categories of Uttar Pradesh are eligible for age relaxation as prescribed in the official notification:

Category Age Relaxation Maximum Age Limit
General No relaxation 40 years
UPPSC age limit for OBC 5 years 45 years
UPPSC age limit for SC ST 5 years 45 years

So, the UPPSC age relaxation 2026 for OBC, SC, and ST candidates of Uttar Pradesh is 5 years. These candidates must not be born before 2nd July 1981.

This relaxation is also given to:

  • Skilled players of U.P. in classified games
  • State government employees of U.P.
  • Teachers and staff of Basic Shiksha Parishad
  • Staff of Government Aided Madhyamik Vidyalayas

UPPSC Age Limit for EWS Candidates

Many students ask about the UPPSC age limit for the EWS category. As per the official notification, EWS (Economically Weaker Section) candidates are treated like General category candidates for age purposes. So the age limit for EWS stays at 21 to 40 years, same as General.

UPPSC Age Limit for PwBD Candidates

Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), as recognised under the applicable rules, receive an age relaxation of 15 years. This means PwBD candidates can apply up to 55 years of age. They must not be born before 2nd July 1971.

UPPSC Age Limit for Male and Female Candidates

There is no separate age limit for male and female candidates. Both male and female candidates follow the same age rules according to their category (General, OBC, SC/ST, EWS, PwBD).

However, physical measurement standards (height, chest, weight) are different for male and female candidates for specific posts like Deputy Superintendent of Police, Excise Inspector, and Deputy Jailor. This is not related to age but to physical eligibility.

Special Age Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen and Army Officers

Ex-servicemen and Emergency/Short Service Commissioned Officers of U.P. get an additional relaxation. Their upper age limit is increased by 3 years plus the number of years they served in the Army. This is on top of any other category relaxation they may be eligible for.

UPPSC Date of Birth Criteria 2026

The UPPSC date of birth criteria is very important because your certificate details must match your High School Certificate. As per the rules:

  • The date of birth mentioned in the High School or equivalent certificate is final.
  • No other certificate is accepted as proof of date of birth.
  • Candidates must ensure that the date of birth entered in the application matches the High School or equivalent certificate, as this will be treated as the final proof.
  • Once submitted in the OTR (One Time Registration), the date of birth cannot be changed easily, so fill it very carefully.

Special Age Limit for Principal, Government Intermediate College Post

For the post of Principal, Government Intermediate College (Boys/Girls), the age rule is different from other posts. Candidates must be between 30 and 40 years of age as on 1st July 2026. This means they must be born between 2nd July 1986 and 1st July 1996.

Why Checking UPPSC Age Criteria 2026 Is Important

If you fill the wrong date of birth or apply without checking the UPPSC age limit 2026, your candidature can be cancelled at any stage, even after selection. The commission clearly states that only the date of birth from the High School certificate will be considered final, and no changes will be entertained after the last date.
