The BPSC Interview Process 2026 is the final stage of the Bihar Public Service Commission Combined Competitive Examination (CCE). Officially known as the Personality Test, it is conducted for candidates who qualify the Main Examination. 

The interview assesses personality, communication skills, administrative aptitude, decision-making ability, and overall suitability for civil services. Since the interview carries 120 marks, strong performance can significantly improve a candidate’s final rank and service allocation.

BPSC Interview Process 2026 Overview

The selection process includes the Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Personality Test. The Preliminary Examination is only a screening stage. Your final merit is calculated using the marks obtained in the merit papers of the Main Examination and the Personality Test.

The notification states that the number called for the interview may be about 2.5 times the advertised vacancies. Your selection for this stage depends on your Main Examination score and the applicable cut-off.

BPSC Interview Pattern 2026

The BPSC Interview Pattern 2026 does not include a fixed written syllabus. You appear before an interview board that assesses your personality, awareness, communication ability, and suitability for administrative responsibility.

The notification confirms the marks allotted to the Personality Test but does not specify a fixed number of questions or standard duration. Your interview may cover your academic background, home district, work experience, hobbies, service preferences, Bihar-related issues and current developments.

The board may assess your clarity of thought, decision-making ability, confidence, honesty, leadership potential, communication skills and emotional balance. You should give clear, balanced and practical responses throughout the entire interaction.

You must obtain the prescribed qualifying marks in General Hindi, but those marks are not included in final merit. The optional paper is also qualifying under the 72nd BPSC structure. Your written merit is based on General Studies Paper 1, General Studies Paper 2, and Essay.

Stages of the BPSC Personality Test 2026

The BPSC Personality Test 2026 begins after the declaration of the Main Examination result. If you are shortlisted, you must complete several stages, including downloading the interview letter, document verification, appearing before the interview board, and undergoing a medical examination.

  1. Declaration of the Main Examination Result
    BPSC first publishes the Main Examination result along with the roll numbers of applicants shortlisted for the Personality Test.
  2. Checking Your Shortlisting Status
    You should check whether your roll number appears in the official shortlist and carefully read all instructions issued by BPSC.
  3. Release of the Interview Schedule
    BPSC releases a separate schedule containing your interview date, reporting time, venue and document verification guidelines.
  4. Downloading the Interview Letter
    You must download your BPSC interview letter from the official portal and carry a printed copy to the interview venue.
  5. Document Verification and Interview
    You must present the original certificates corresponding to the documents uploaded with your application. After verification, you appear before the interview board, which evaluates your awareness, communication, conduct and administrative suitability.
  6. Medical Examination and Final Eligibility
    After the Personality Test, you must undergo a medical examination. Your appointment remains subject to meeting the medical and physical standards prescribed for the service allotted to you.

You should carry all required documents in original form along with self-attested photocopies. Make sure the details on your certificates match the information entered in your BPSC application form.
