BPSC Selection Stages 2026

The BPSC recruitment process follows a structured selection procedure designed to identify suitable candidates for various civil service posts in Bihar.

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination is the first stage of the BPSC Selection Process 2026. It consists of a single General Studies paper containing objective-type multiple-choice questions. The purpose of this stage is to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination.

The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination are not included in the final merit list. Candidates must score equal to or above the prescribed cut-off marks to qualify for the next stage.

Stage 2: Main Examination

Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination are eligible to appear for the Main Examination. This stage evaluates a candidate’s conceptual understanding, analytical ability, writing skills, and subject knowledge through descriptive papers.

The Mains Examination plays a crucial role in the BPSC final selection, as the marks obtained in this stage are considered while preparing the final merit list.

Stage 3: Personality Test (Interview)

Candidates who successfully clear the Main Examination are invited to appear for the Personality Test, also known as the BPSC Interview Process.

The interview assesses a candidate’s personality, communication skills, decision-making ability, leadership qualities, presence of mind, and awareness of national and international issues. Performance in the interview significantly contributes to the final selection.
