UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to recruit candidates for prestigious services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and other Group A and Group B Central Services. Understanding the UPSC Exam Pattern 2027 is one of the first and most important steps for aspirants beginning their preparation.
As per the UPSC Annual Calendar 2027, the UPSC CSE 2027 Notification will be released on 13 January 2027, and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled to be held on 23 May 2027. Since the official UPSC CSE 2027 Notification is yet to be released, the exam pattern below is based on the UPSC CSE 2026 Notification and will be updated after the release of the latest notification.

Suppose a candidate attempts 90 questions in GS Paper I:
Similarly, in CSAT, a candidate must score at least 66.67 marks (33%) to qualify. However, CSAT marks are not included in determining the Prelims cut-off or merit.
