UPSC Marks Calculator for GS Paper

UPSC marks calculator for GS paper uses the scheme provided in the table below. For better understanding, an illustration of how to calculate your UPSC Prelims Marks using the UPSC Prelims Marks Calculator has been provided.

  • A candidate has attempted 85 questions out of the 100 questions in GS paper. Questions not answered will not be considered.
  • Based on reliable answer keys, he/she has marked 60 answers correctly, and the remaining 25 are incorrectly marked.
  • Based on rules given in the following table, the marks obtained through correct answers is 60 X 2 = 120 and the negative marks obtained is 25 X -0.66 = -16.5
  • The net total marks scored by the candidate in GS paper will be 120 – 16.5 = 103.5.

UPSC Marks Calculator for CSAT Paper

Marks scored on CSAT paper can be predicted by the UPSC marks calculator using rules mentioned in the table. For easier understanding, here is an illustration.

  • A candidate has attempted 55 questions out of the 80 questions on the CSAT paper. Questions that are not answered will not be considered.
  • Based on reliable answer keys, he/she has marked 45 answers correctly, and the remaining 10 are incorrectly marked.
  • Based on rules given in the following table, the marks obtained through correct answers is 45 X 2.5 = 112.5 and the negative marks obtained are 10 X -0.83 = -8.3
  • The net total marks scored by the candidate on CSAT paper will be 112.5 – 8.3 = 104.2.

UPSC mains exam will be conducted in a descriptive format, meaning candidates have to write descriptive answers to questions. The marks scored by the candidate will be based on multiple factors, such as answer structure, addressing the demand of the question, use of proper language, etc.

The Main exam includes nine papers, of which seven are counted. The total marks determine the candidate's rank and selection.
