UPSC Notification 2023: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the UPSC Notification 2023 for the Civil Services Examination(CSE) on its official website upsc.gov.in on 1st February 2023 to fill 1105 vacancies including 37 for individuals in the benchmark disability category, 15 for individuals with locomotor disabilities like cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims, and muscular dystrophy, and 10 for individuals with multiple disabilities.

Aspirants were required to submit their UPSC Application Form online at upsconline.nic.in before February 21, 2023. Aspirants can apply for the UPSC 2023 Exam from 1st February 2023 to 21st February 2023.

The UPSC Exam Pattern consists of three stages – Prelims, Mains, and Interview. Also known as the IAS Exam, it is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to recruit candidates for IAS, IPS, IFS, and other allied services.

The Prelims stage includes two papers – General Studies I and CSAT (General Studies Paper-II), where General Studies Paper-I marks determine Mains selection.   2. Citizen of Nepal.
  3. Citizen of Bhutan.
  4. Tibetan refugee who entered India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of settling there permanently.
  5. Person of Indian origin who moved to India with the intention of residing there permanently, primarily from Vietnam, Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia.

UPSC Age Limit 2023

For the UPSC CSE, the minimum age limit is usually 21 years, while the maximum age limit is 32 years for candidates in the General category. However, there are relaxations in the upper age limit for candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC/ST, OBC, and others.

UPSC Educational Qualifications 2023

  1. To be eligible for UPSC exams, candidates must have a graduate degree from an Indian university established by an act of the national or state legislature or from other recognized educational institutions.

  2. Candidates in their final year of college or awaiting results can also apply for the UPSC preliminary examination.

  3. Such candidates must provide documentation of their success in the relevant test while applying for the main IAS exam.

  4. Medical students who have passed the final year of their MBBS program but have not completed their internship are also eligible for the IAS exam.

  5. They need to submit a course completion certificate (including an internship) from the relevant University/Institution authority with the Main Examination application.

How Many Attempts for UPSC

UPSC aspirants have been allowed a maximum of six (6) attempts to take the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE). However, candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC and PwBD categories are given a relaxation in the number of attempts.

UPSC Exam Fees 

The UPSC Exam Fee is Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred Only) for the UPSC exam.  Female candidates, SC/ST candidates, and persons with benchmark disabilities are exempted from paying the fee. However,  aspirants from OBC and EWS categories are not eligible for any fee exemptions and must pay the full specified fee amount.

Aspirants can make the payment through various methods, such as remitting the money at any State Bank of India (SBI) branch, using a Visa, Mastercard, or RuPay credit/debit card, or through SBI’s Internet Banking.
