Preparing for the current affairs section is a little tricky because there is no specific syllabus for the exam. UPSC’s focus areas from current affairs can be deduced from analysis of PYQs. In order to score good marks in current affairs, you can adopt some of the tips given below:

  • Regularly Read Newspapers: Majority of questions asked about current affairs are sourced from newspapers such as The Hindu and The Indian Express. Candidates have to read these newspapers regularly.
  • Refer Magazines and Government Notifications: UPSC asks questions from government publications such as PIB and also magazines such as Down to Earth.
  • Analyse PYQs: By analyzing PYQs, candidates can get an idea about the type of questions asked by the examiner and prepare accordingly.
