IPS Selection Process 2027

The IPS Exam 2027 selection process is conducted through the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Candidates must qualify all stages of the examination to be considered for service allocation.

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination is the first stage and consists of two objective-type papers. It serves as a screening test for shortlisting candidates for the Main Examination.

Stage 2: Main Examination

Candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination appear for the Civil Services Main Examination, which includes written descriptive papers assessing knowledge, analytical ability, and writing skills.

Stage 3: Personality Test

Candidates clearing the Main Examination are called for the Personality Test (Interview), which evaluates their personality, communication skills, decision-making ability, and suitability for public service.

Stage 4: Final Merit List

The final merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in the Main Examination and the Personality Test. Service allocation, including the Indian Police Service (IPS), is made according to merit, preferences, vacancies, eligibility, and medical fitness.
