  • Wi-Fi 7 is the latest generation wireless networking technology designed to deliver ultra-fast internet speed, lower latency and higher network efficiency.
    • Wifi 7 is  formally designated as IEEE 802.11be Extremely High Throughput (EHT)
  • It operates across multiple frequency bands, including the newly delicensed 6 GHz spectrum, improving connectivity performance in dense digital environments.
  • India’s adoption of Wi-Fi 7 supports the government’s objectives of digital infrastructure expansion and domestic electronics manufacturing.

    • High-Speed Connectivity: Wi-Fi 7 provides significantly faster data transmission speeds compared to previous Wi-Fi standards, supporting high-bandwidth applications such as cloud computing and 8K streaming.
      • Wi-Fi 7 delivers theoretical maximum speeds of up to 46 Gbps
    • Licence-Exempt Spectrum Usage: Makes full use of the newly delicensed *5925–6425 MHz frequency band* in India, ensuring a less congested and low-interference spectrum environment for handling high-volume data traffic efficiently.
    • Enhanced Spatial Multiplexing Capability:  Expands the maximum spatial streams from 8×8 to 16×16 MU-MIMO (Multi-User Multiple-Input Multiple-Output), enabling routers to connect with a large number of devices simultaneously while maintaining high-speed performance.
    • Low Latency and Reliability: The technology offers reduced latency and more stable connections, which are essential for AI-driven applications, online gaming, smart manufacturing and real-time communication systems.
