Context: Recently, the Ministry of Defence has simplified defence export and licensing procedures to help Indian manufacturers, particularly MSMEs, access international markets faster while retaining safeguards for sensitive items and destinations.

The revised defence export framework seeks to achieve a balance between ease of doing business and strategic safeguards. By reducing repetitive approvals and expanding OGEL coverage, India can strengthen its defence manufacturing ecosystem, MSME participation and position as a reliable global defence supplier.
