  • Danish Colonial Territories: Denmark controlled colonial territories in India for 225 years. The Danish possessions included Tranquebar in Tamil Nadu, Serampore in Bengal, and the Nicobar Islands. Serampore served as their Indian headquarters.
  • Missionary Work and Serampore Mission Press: Danish missionaries established the Serampore Mission Press in 1799. Their missionary activities in India are well-known and had a significant impact on education and Christian literature.
  • Struggles and Sale of Outposts: Despite their initial endeavors, the Danes faced difficulties in consolidating their position in India. Eventually, in 1845, they sold all their outposts in India to the British.
