5 min read

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, born on October 31, 1875, in Nadiad, Gujarat, remains a towering figure in Indian history. Hailing from a farmer’s family, Patel initially seemed destined for an unremarkable life. However, through sheer determination, he defied the odds by self-studying and passing the law examination, often relying on borrowed books. Patel’s grit and dedication eventually earned him the title “Iron Man of India” for his role in unifying the fragmented princely states post-independence.

Patel’s legal career, marked by success and skill, laid the foundation for his involvement in India’s independence struggle. His historic contributions as India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister were pivotal in shaping a united India, celebrated annually on his birth anniversary as National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas).
